Wings of Joy was started in June of 1980 by Marion Cusson, Audrey Erickson, and JoAnn Staszewski at 1179 Old Dixie Highway in 625 square feet of space. Two years later the store was expanded to incorporate the entire building at 1179 Old Dixie: 1250 square feet of space. In 1984 Marion left the corporation.
In 1987 several changes took place. We moved to the corner location at 1185 Old Dixie, bought the stock and fixtures from Good News Christian Bookstore in Sebastian when they went out of business, and we computerized. Audrey left the organization and married, and we went through a devastating year financially with road construction that nearly crippled the store.
In 1989 we took over the upholstery shop, which increased our size from 3,200 square feet to 3,500 square feet.
On November 25, 1991 Wings of Joy Fort Pierce opened. In September 1993 the Vero Beach store moved to 4201 20th Street. The Fort Pierce store closed in August 1994. We opened an Outlet Store in the 7-11 Building behind us which was operational for two years.
When we moved to our location here at 1940 58th Ave, we closed the Outlet Store and will be this our home until we meet Jesus. Our store is considered to be one of the leading Christian Bookstores on the east coast of Florida.
Now, JoAnn Staszewski has retired, and Sylvie and Bill Funk are the new owners! We are all very excited that the doors did not close. However, we have moved to 5935 20th St in Vero Beach, FL.
Store Hours: Monday-Saturday 10:00-8:00pm
